What is Yes?

YES! “Youth Empowered to Serve” provides an opportunity for youth to develop effective life skills as they plan and implement projects that benefit their respective schools and communities. Such abilities include teamwork, communications, problem solving, project planning, and group decision making.
YES! is presented in partnership with Richmond, Centerville, Lincoln, Northeastern, and Hagerstown High Schools.

Initially, school and Communities In Schools personnel identify one adult leader and 8-15 middle or high schoolers, targeting students who have not yet developed leadership potential or students who need to redirect their inherent leadership skills in a positive manner. YAR will have active YES! programs in all five of the Wayne County School systems for the school year of 2011-2012.

YAR staff will meet with school teams throughout the school year to provide training, technical assistance, and guidance in project development. School teams may apply for funds of up to $500 through the YAR grant-making process. more details
